The Shotgun Studios (note this is NOT the Shotgun Players Theater location!) were selected as our first location, which allows a relatively private experience. We should enjoy not having any obligations to buy drinks and food, there won’t be anyone steaming milk while we sing a song, play an instrument, or recite a poem! Also, for us dancers with sensitive feet, the floor has been upgraded!
Try to arrive on time, because the door will remain locked and someone will have to let you in. One of us will monitor it, but please be patient.
How to get here:
1201 University Ave is on the AC 51B route (stop at Bonar St), a 12-minute walk from North Berkeley BART, and an easy bike ride (come on Curtis Street to avoid riding on University Ave).
It’s not a cafe, so there won’t be food and drinks available, but it is near Taqueria La Mission, a convenience store on one side (please refrain from bringing alcohol in), and Eat Thai on the other. Across the street is Cafe Belmo offering pastries. There are also many options on San Pablo.
